What is the Mendocino International Cider Competition?

14 Jun 2017 12:13 PM | Anonymous

The Mendocino Apple Show International Cider Competition (MASICC) began in 2015 as an inclusive opportunity for ciders made from apples, juice, or concentrate from around the world a chance to shine!

Now in its 3rd year, the MASICC features the same well thought out entry classes as the its sister competition, the California Cider Competition. Ciders are accepted from both commercial and non-commercial cidermakers, whether they are available to the public, pre-release, or still in the cidery-in-planning stage.

This year's classes include Modern, Heritage, Traditional, Sour, Modern Perry, and Traditional Perry for Standard styles of cider, and Fruit, Hopped, Spiced, Wood-Aged, and Fortified for Specialty Styles. There is also a label competition.

At the Grand Tasting of the award-winning ciders at the Mendocino County Fair, cider drinkers of all experience levels can taste and learn about the varietals, terroir, qualities, flavors, and techniques behind the finish product in their glass.

Entries will open soon at CiderCompetitionCentral.com, so stay tuned!
